NYK Recognized by CDP as Supplier Engagement Leader for Sixth Consecutive Year
NYK has been named a “Supplier Engagement Leader”* — the highest distinction awarded based on a supplier engagement assessment ("SEA") conducted in 2025 by the international environmental nonprofit CDP.** This marks the sixth consecutive year since 2020 that NYK has received an “A” rating and received this recognition.
Organizations are evaluated on their supplier engagement based on their responses across five key areas of the CDP climate change questionnaire: risk management processes, governance and business strategy, supplier engagement, Scope 3 emissions accounting, and targets. The Supplier Engagement Leader distinction recognizes companies that have excelled in addressing climate change throughout their supply chains.***
As announced on December 16, 2025, NYK was also selected for CDP’s Climate Change “A-List” for a sixth consecutive year.
With the cooperation of a wide range of stakeholders beyond the maritime industry, the NYK Group is working to reduce greenhouse gas ("GHG") emissions by improving operational efficiency — including optimizing fleet deployment and utilizing voyage support systems — while also promoting the use of LNG as a marine fuel and expanding the introduction of biofuels.
In particular, to advance the practical application of zero-emission fuels, NYK is advancing the development and demonstration of ammonia-fueled vessels. In fact, the world’s first commercially used ammonia-fueled tugboat, Sakigake, was developed by NYK and has demonstrated a 95% reduction in GHG emissions. NYK is accumulating technical and operational expertise for commercialization by conducting safety assessments and verifying fuel supply infrastructure.
This selection as a “Supplier Engagement Leader” reflects these initiatives. As a corporate group that continues to contribute to society and achieve sustainable growth, NYK will further accelerate its efforts with stakeholders and take the lead in decarbonizing the entire global supply chain.
