Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha and Yusen Logistics Global Management Co., Ltd. have donated 52,234 trees to One Tree Planted (OTP), an international nonprofit organization dedicated to global forest restoration.

Employees Participating in the Charity Walking Event

This donation stems from a charity walking event held by the NYK Group and Yusen Logistics in May to promote employee health while contributing to a more sustainable society through tree donations. More than 7,000 employees from Group companies in Japan and overseas participated in the fiscal 2026 event, collectively recording 1.55 billion steps.

Following last year, OTP was again selected as the donation recipient because it is an international nonprofit organization actively engaged in forest restoration and allows donors to select projects in regions around the world. The 52,234 trees donated this year will be planted through projects in Australia, Portugal, Indonesia, and Guatemala, selected by the top seven companies based on their event performance, and are expected to contribute to local environmental conservation and ecosystem restoration.

Yasunobu Suzuki, Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, NYK
I find it deeply meaningful that each member of our Group, by taking steps to improve their health through everyday activities, has enabled the Group as a whole to contribute to addressing the social challenge of forest restoration.
This initiative represents a step toward connecting healthy living with a sustainable future, while walking together has further deepened our sense of unity as a Group. I am very pleased that so many colleagues around the world participated and enjoyed the event, helping to make it a success. We will continue to foster connections among employees while promoting initiatives aimed at building a healthy and vibrant organization and realizing a sustainable society.

Nobuyasu Ozeki, Director, Managing Executive Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, Yusen Logistics Global Management
Once again, this event went beyond the social contribution of donating trees and provided a valuable opportunity for colleagues around the world to connect toward a common goal, transcending differences in country, region, age, and culture.
During the event, employees in different locations shared their walking activities and encouraged one another, giving me a strong sense of the unity that defines Yusen Logistics. I am very pleased that through this event, we were able to promote employee health while also contributing to forest restoration. I would like to express my appreciation to all employees who participated in this initiative, and we will continue to contribute in our own way toward creating a better society.

The NYK Group will continue to promote social contribution activities and work toward realizing a sustainable future.
