On September 6, International Car Operators N.V. (ICO), a member of the NYK Group, welcomed a delegation of 12 government officials, including Hirotaka Ishihara, Minister of the Environment of Japan, to its finished-vehicle terminal at the Port of Zeebrugge, Belgium.
The delegation also visited the LNG-fueled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) Wild Rose Leader, operated by the NYK Group. Guided by the vessel’s captain and chief engineer, the visitors toured key areas of the ship, including the bridge and engine room.

During the approximately three-hour visit to the finished-vehicle terminal, the delegation received an overview of the NYK Group’s decarbonization strategy and its advocacy activities toward the European Union (EU) aimed at supporting the realization of that strategy. The visitors were also introduced to ICO’s advanced decarbonization initiatives, including its on-site wind power generation facilities and shore power system for roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels supplied by renewable energy.
During the tour of Wild Rose Leader, the delegation was briefed on the NYK Group’s efforts to advance next-generation fuels as part of the shipping industry’s transition toward decarbonization.

The NYK Group will continue to promote decarbonization through collaboration with ICO, other group companies, and business partners, contributing to the development of sustainable supply chains and enhanced industrial competitiveness.
