NYK’s Diversity and Inclusion Efforts Recognized for Third Consecutive Year with Best Workplace 2025 D&I Award

Fostering an Inclusive Organizational Culture that Respects Diversity

On December 12, NYK was presented with a Best Workplace 2025 D&I Award, one of Japan's most significant awards certifying companies committed to diversity and inclusion (D&I). This was the third straight year for NYK’s D&I to be recognized.

Established by JobRainbow Co., Ltd. in 2021, the award is designed to promote D&I throughout society by establishing a shared framework for integrating D&I into economic and corporate activities. The ultimate goal is to cultivate a society where D&I is instinctively embraced as second nature.

Companies are evaluated based on a 100-item "Diversity Score" across five categories: gender, LGBTQ+, disability, multicultural coexistence, and childcare/nursing care. Each company's initiatives are visualized and assessed across four scoring categories.* NYK earned high marks in all areas, with notable improvements in the “multicultural coexistence” and “LGBTQ+” categories compared to last year.

The NYK Group is a highly diverse organization, with over 80% of our more than 35,000 employees from overseas. In fiscal 2023, we launched our "CX Story," implementing various measures aimed at creating a workplace where everyone can be themselves and thrive — regardless of nationality, gender, or personal values.

In fiscal 2024, we established the NYK Group's "D&I Promise" to clearly articulate our commitment to diversity and inclusion. To share the intentions behind this initiative, a video message from top management was released across all group companies. As part of our efforts to make the D&I Promise personally meaningful for every employee, we have conducted workshops, particularly at our overseas group companies, and are promoting the integration of the D&I Promise into daily work at our head office and domestic group companies through e-learning programs.

NYK will continue to strive to develop further a corporate culture that respects diversity, fostering an environment where every employee can realize their full potential. Through our ongoing promotion of diversity and inclusion, we aim to achieve sustainable development in society.
