NYK Car Carrier Makes First Call at Chan May Port in Central Vietnam

Providing a New Automotive Logistics Option for Central Vietnam Through the Region’s First Export Shipment of Finished Vehicles

On September 18, a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) operated by NYK made its first-ever call at Chan May Port, located near Hue City in central Vietnam.

The port call was realized as part of an export project for electric buses manufactured by Vietnamese automobile and bus manufacturer Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company (“Kim Long Motor”) and destined for Thailand. NYK plans to continue making calls at the port in support of the project. Headway Logistics, NYK’s local logistics partner in Vietnam, also supported project coordination.

Finished vehicle transport in Vietnam has traditionally been handled through Hai Phong Port in the north and Ho Chi Minh Port in the south, with no prior services available from the central region, including Chan May Port. This marks the first-ever PCTC call to central Vietnam for finished-vehicle exports.

To commemorate the occasion, Kim Long Motor, Chan May Port, and NYK jointly held a ceremony celebrating the opening of a new automotive logistics route in central Vietnam. Representatives from the Hue city government, along with stakeholders from the logistics industry and related businesses, attended the event.
