A business infrastructure strengthening plan submitted by NYK’s Group company Keihin Dock Co., Ltd. (Keihin Dock) in accordance with a newly amended maritime law aimed at strengthening maritime industries has been approved by Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).

MLIT’s certification system aims to enhance the competitiveness of Japan's shipbuilding and maritime sectors, reform seafarers' working practices, and improve the productivity of coastal shipping industries. By obtaining certification, businesses can access a range of economic support measures, including up to five years of tax incentives, financial support, and subsidy programs.

Keihin Dock’s newly approved plan aims for fundamental reforms, including operational structure, to simultaneously address diverse customer demands and enhance its own operational efficiency. It sets two primary goals: (1) Moving beyond reactive measures during the construction phase, and (2) Establishing a business process that proactively eliminates productivity barriers in pre-construction stages and pre-emptively develops production plans and work instructions. To achieve these goals, we have formulated a set of improvement measures covering order acceptance and scheduling logic, work instruction and management systems, and operational methods. We will implement these measures companywide, while also considering co-creation with partners.

Additionally, Keihin Dock was selected by MLIT for a subsidy program in support of its digital transformation (DX) project, submitted jointly with Fluid Techno Co., Ltd. in June 2025. This project approval, set against the backdrop of the government’s announced “Shipbuilding Industry Revitalization Roadmap” and accompanying shipbuilding support policies, represents a step toward revitalizing Japan's maritime cluster. Keihin Dock will focus on executing this plan to drive future business development.
