NYK Donates to Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology for Faculty of Marine Engineering’s 150th Anniversary Project
NYK has donated to support the 150th anniversary project of the Faculty of Marine Engineering at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. On December 5, six university representatives, including Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology president Toshio Iseki, visited NYK to express their gratitude for our longstanding support of their educational initiatives and to celebrate our cooperative relationship. During the visit, they presented a letter of appreciation to NYK president Takaya Soga.

The Faculty of Marine Engineering at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (formerly Tokyo University of Mercantile Marine) was founded in 1875 as Mitsubishi Mercantile Marine School. It is widely regarded as the origin of maritime education for the NYK Group. Over the years, many of its graduates have joined NYK, contributing substantially to the growth and development of the maritime industry.
The donation will be used to support the following initiatives of the Faculty of Marine Engineering’s 150th Anniversary Project:
- Enhancing maritime education and training facilities
- Upgrading student dormitories and improving the learning environment
- Expanding scholarship programs to support outstanding students, graduate school candidates, and those participating in onboard training
The NYK Group remains committed to supporting the advancement of maritime education and the development of future generations through donations to institutions such as Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. We will continue our efforts to support socially impactful fields.
