NYK has once again been recognized as a gold-status Fairtrade Workplace by Fairtrade Japan* — a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty and enabling sustainable livelihoods for producers through fair trade.

In accordance with Fairtrade Japan’s annual quantity standards, beverages must reach a threshold of at least 20,000 cups to qualify. NYK surpassed this benchmark by serving over 50,000 cups of Fairtrade-certified coffee and tea between April 2024 to March 2025, earning its gold-status certification.

Since April 2016, every cup of coffee and tea sold at the employee café in NYK’s Tokyo head office has been Fairtrade-certified. Additionally, NYK has been holding in-house lectures to educate its employees about the benefits and importance of fair trade.

The NYK Group remains committed to advancing initiatives that address pressing social issues, including supporting and improving the lives of producers and workers in developing countries.
