Strengthening cooperation to accelerate response to container ship fires

During the visit, representatives of UNI-X NCT Corporation, an NYK Group company responsible for terminal operations, provided an overview of the container yard, cargo-handling equipment, and emergency-communication protocols. Participants also visited areas where hazardous and refrigerated containers are stored to inspect storage conditions, followed by a Q&A session focused on emergency-response procedures.

Additionally, aboard a container ship, vessel crew and NYK marine engineers conducted a hands-on inspection of the ship’s firefighting equipment and its locations. They actively exchanged ideas on firefighting equipment operation and the importance of effective coordination between ship and shore.

The NYK Group will continue to strengthen collaboration with relevant parties to further enhance safety and improve our emergency response capabilities.
