Now in its 53rd year, Gastech is the world's largest exhibition and conference dedicated to natural gas, ammonia, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, climate technology, AI, and related fields.
NYK actively promotes the introduction and technological development of next-generation fuels, including CCS and ammonia, to realize a sustainable society. Throughout the event, we engaged extensively with domestic and international energy stakeholders, strengthening existing partnerships and forging new collaborations to accelerate the realization of a sustainable society.
In his presentation titled "Efforts to Realize Ammonia as a Marine Fuel and Build the Fuel Ammonia Value Chain," Yokoyama shared insights from the commercial operation of the world's first ammonia-fueled tugboat, Sakigake, completed in 2024. He also provided updates on the development of the ammonia-fueled ammonia carrier scheduled for completion in November 2026, progress in the fuel-ammonia supply business, and ongoing efforts to build a fuel-ammonia value chain.
In November 2023, NYK announced the "NYK Group Decarbonization Story," outlining the goal of achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The company remains committed to realizing a sustainable society by introducing next-generation fuels like ammonia and developing related technologies, in collaboration with domestic and international partners.
