NYK Selected as 2023 Nadeshiko Brand Company

Accelerating Diversity and Inclusion by Supporting Balancing Work and Family Life Regardless of Gender

NYK has been selected as a fiscal 2023 Nadeshiko Brand* company.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) use this acknowledgment to jointly recognize companies that promote women's success in the workplace by providing support for career development and work-and-family-life balance regardless of gender. NYK last received this recognition in 2019.

NYK is promoting women's success in the workplace through the corporate transformation (CX) strategy presented in the company’s medium-term management plan announced in March 2023. Promoting women's success is at the core of this plan, which includes enhancing human capital and diversity. Specifically, NYK supports balancing life events and career development by promoting male parental leave, creating training opportunities for female employees, and fostering an organizational culture through various training programs so that all employees view diversity and inclusion as personal matters. These efforts to support women's success have also increased the number of female employees hired.

NYK will continue to strive for sustainable growth while fulfilling its social responsibilities as a company that respects diversity and inclusion, including promoting women's activities.

METI and the TSE have jointly sponsored the Nadeshiko Brand initiative since fiscal 2012, selecting TSE-listed companies that excel at encouraging women’s success in the workplace. In this initiative, METI and the TSE introduce such listed enterprises as attractive stocks to investors concerned with improving corporate value over the medium to long term.

On March 10, 2023, the NYK Group released its medium-term management plan “Sail Green, Drive Transformations 2026 - A Passion for Planetary Wellbeing. ” The NYK Group is promoting growth strategies with ESG at the core, based on the Group’s mission statement of “Bringing value to life” and a new corporate vision for 2030, which reads, “we go beyond the scope of a comprehensive global logistics enterprise to co-create value required for the future by advancing our core business and growing new ones.”
