NYK’s Diversity and Inclusion Efforts Recognized with D&I Award for Second Consecutive Year

NYK has been recognized with a 2022 D&I Award by JobRainbow Inc. certifying the advanced diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts being made by NYK.

This award was established by JobRainbow Inc. in 2021 and is the largest award in Japan to score and evaluate companies that are committed to D&I. This award aims to promote D&I throughout society and realize a society where D&I is taken for granted by presenting a "new way of D&I" based on a multifaceted original index.

The certification is based on a 100-item "diversity score" comprising five perspectives (LGBT, gender gap, disability, multicultural coexistence, and childcare / long-term care). After scoring is completed, each company is placed in one of four categories.*
NYK has implemented a variety of measures to support employees in balancing life events and career development and to enable all employees to continue working with high motivation. NYK has also worked to foster an organizational culture that accepts different values and promotes the success of its diverse workforce, and these efforts were comprehensively evaluated and led to this certification.

On February 3, 2021, NYK released the NYK Group ESG Story , which aims to further integrate ESG into the company’s management strategy and promotes activities that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through business activities. On March 24, 2022, NYK released the updated "NYK Group ESG Story 2022 ," which introduced specific ESG management initiatives and measures implemented and included a long-term view of the Group’s sustainable growth strategy.

We believe that the mutual recognition and diversity of our approximately 35,000 employees will enable NYK to continue to grow into a group that can flexibly respond to major changes even in an uncertain world.

Going forward, we will continue to promote the creation of new value by creating an environment in which all employees can maximize their individual abilities by making the most of their individuality and differences.
