NYK Selected for FTSE4Good Index for 20th Consecutive Year

For the 20th straight year, NYK has been selected as a component of the FTSE4Good Index Series,* benchmark indexes designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices.

The FTSE4Good Index is a leading indicator used by investors who place importance on corporate social responsibility and sustainability. As of 2022, the index comprised 1,659 companies worldwide, including 224 Japanese companies.

NYK was also chosen as a constituent of the FTSE Blossom Japan Index** for the sixth consecutive year and the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index*** newly adopted in 2022. The FTSE Blossom Japan Index is an ESG investment index used by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).

In its medium-term management plan "Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green" announced in March 2018, the NYK Group clearly stated its intention to integrate ESG principles with management strategies.

In 2021, NYK issued the "NYK Group ESG Story," which outlines the Group's ESG management and provides concrete initiatives that the Group is pursuing to integrate ESG principles with management strategies. A year later, the “NYK Group ESG Story 2022" was released, detailing one year of progress in ESG management and a sustainable growth strategy for the future.

To continue to be a corporate group that remains essential to society and industry, the NYK Group will promote ESG management. Furthermore, the Group aims to be a sustainable solution provider that creates new value while maximizing profits and achieving social and environmental sustainability over the long term.
