Schoolteachers Spend Two Days in Study at NYK

August 27, 2014

At "NYK Hikawamaru"

Between August 20 and 21, NYK welcomed eight elementary and junior high school teachers from the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education to participate in a program for teachers to promote their understanding of corporate activities. The program was arranged in cooperation with the Japan Institute for Social and Economic Affairs.

This training program was held during the schools’ summer vacation, and during the program NYK explained about its human resources development and environmental measures, some of which could be used in future school management. This is the 20th year for NYK to participate in this program.

At Japan Marine Science Inc.

In this training, lectures were given about the NYK Group’senvironmental measures and participants experienced the chartering business through group work of bulk shipping. In addition, the participants went to the NYK Tokyo Container Terminal and Japan Marine Science Inc. to learn more about state-of-the-art technology such as the ship-handling simulator and visited museum-ship NYK Hikawamaru for better understanding of shipping history.

Some of the feedbacks from the participants were:

--"I would like to introduce shipping industry as one of the profession in the course for senior children at elementary school in which they think about their future"
--" I found the training fruitful as I understood the business in global arena and its excitement through this training”.
--" I learnt that even as a company working worldwide values every employee and is working effort to develop their ability.

NYK continues to work positively as a good corporate citizen on activities that contribute to our society.
