NYK Selected for Inclusion in RobecoSAM's Bronze Class

February 3, 2014

NYK is proud to have been included in the Bronze Class of the 2014 Sustainability Yearbook compiled by RobecoSAM AG (RobecoSAM) in Switzerland. The yearbook is regarded as the world’s most comprehensive annual publication on corporate sustainability performance, and NYK is the only Japanese company in the industrial transportation sector to be recognized as a “sustainability leader.”

RobecoSAM is a global SRI-evaluation* company that selects companies for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), one of the world’s two largest indexes. Every year, RobecoSAM rates companies that conduct superior corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and places the top companies in one of three classes: gold, silver, or bronze.

For 3,000 leading companies around the world operating in 59 industries, RobecoSAM evaluated corporate sustainability in terms of management, society, environment, and other relevant issues. RobecoSAM selected the top 465 companies having a high standing and then placed 222 of those companies into three classes — 70 in the Gold Class, 65 in the Silver Class, and 87 in the Bronze Class. In the global industrial transportation sector, seven companies were included — one in the Gold Class, three in the Silver Class, and three in the Bronze Class.

As a good corporate citizen, NYK will continue to take an active role in social issues, including conservation of the environment, to contribute to the achievement of a better global society.
