NYK Holds Fleet Safety Management Meeting for Shipowners and Ship-management Companies

On October 16, NYK held an online fleet safety management meeting with domestic and overseas shipowners and ship-management companies and to share the safety activities. Among them, four companies — Fukujin Kisen Co. Ltd., Taiheiyo Kisen Co. Ltd., Wallem Shipmanagement Ltd, and Zeaborn Ship Management — were awarded for their excellent safety promotion activities .

This Fleet Safety Management Meeting is part of NYK’s Remember Naka-no-Se safety campaign. Based on the lessons learned from the Diamond Grace oil spill in Tokyo Bay in July 1997, this campaign is held every year with the purpose of reconfirming the importance of safe operation with shipowners, management companies, and other partners. Under the new slogan of "NYK Safety Story "* we discussed and exchanged information on ESG management and DX strategies, COVID-19 infection countermeasures on board, and crew change issues, in addition to accident/trouble prevention measures.

The safety activities of each company were shared under the target of "Enhance the ability of each crew to detect dangers ," and the four best companies were awarded.

NYK will continue to maintain strong communication with shipowners, ship-management companies and other partners, and strive for even safer operation.
