Panel Discussion Examines Use of Advanced Technology in Container Business

Symphony Creative Solutions Pte. Ltd. (SCS),* an NYK Group company, in cooperation with the National University of Singapore (NUS) through its entrepreneurial arm NUS Enterprise,** held a panel discussion on February 26 at BLOCK71 Singapore*** to promote open innovation in the shipping and logistics industry.

This is the third time SCS has held such an event. The most recent discussion focused on the utilization of technologies specific to the container business. This theme was much more detailed than the previous one, which was “innovation in the shipping and logistics industry.”

Eugene Qian, senior manager of Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd.,**** provided an outline of the container business and spoke about the importance of cultivating an innovation-prone corporate culture. Another speaker offered a practical presentation on the utilization of advanced technology, such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA). The speakers also fielded many questions from participants who filled the seminar hall.

As a platform for open innovation in the shipping and logistics industry, SCS plans to hold a series of these events and sponsor a contest for startups in early April.

A Singapore-based global container shipping company that will begin operations on April 1 by integrating the container businesses of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd., Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd., and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha.
