Containership ACX Crystal Collides with U.S. Navy Destroyer USS Fitzgerald (4)

On June 20 (Japan Standard Time), the commander of the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet announced that the bodies of the seven sailors who went missing during the collision between the containership ACX Crystal and the USS Fitzgerald have been repatriated to the United States.


NYK, the charterer of ACX Crystal, along with the shipowner, Dainichi Invest Corporation, and the vessel manager, again wishes to offer its sincerest condolences to the families and friends of those who so tragically lost their lives in this accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them during this most difficult time. We also offer our hopes for a speedy recovery for those injured and still receiving medical care.

NYK is aware that the shipowner, ship manager, and crew are fully cooperating with the official investigation being conducted by the Japan Coast Guard, and as charterer, we continue to offer our support to this investigation and all parties involved.
