NCA Line Maintenance Hangar at the Narita International Airport

NYK Group company, Nippon Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. (NCA) was rated on its environmental performance by the Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ). NCA received improved terms for its financing based on this DBJ environmental rating.

NCA is the first air freight industry company to receive DBJ's environmental rating. DBJ highly commended NCA’s good environmental management, which is based on NCA’s corporate philosophy: “We will uphold our compliance commitments as responsible corporate citizens and bring about a better global society through environmental conservation efforts and social contributions."

DBJ's environmental rating is a financing option available to leading companies who meet their evaluation criteria.

As part of the evaluation process, the following points were highly praised:

1.    The high-profile introduction of the world’s most advanced cargo aircraft. NCA’s B747-8F have significantly improved CO2 emissions and lower noise levels compared with the existing B747-400 aircraft.
2.    Flying operational improvements – NCA is continuously working to increase the  effectiveness of its equipment and limit the environmental impact of its operations.
3.    The new-build maintenance hangar incorporating a range of environment-friendly measures at Narita International Airport. The hangar is designed to let in as much natural light as possible, has an advanced automatic natural ventilation system and uses rainwater to wash fuselages. These energy saving and other eco features reduce the hangar’s environmental impact.

NYK Group is committed to continue its efforts to develop an environmental approach which contributes to the betterment of the global environment and the achievement of a sustainable society.
