NYK Issues Its 2011 Annual Report
July 29, 2011
NYK has issued the 2011 edition of its annual report (A4-size, 139 pages, full color).
The report, titled ”More Than Shipping,” addresses the new medium-term management plan of the same name and the path to further growth by the NYK Group.
This year’s edition begins with a review of NYK’s 125-year history, the characteristics of the company’s business today, and the group’s efforts toward environment-friendly transportation.
In a special feature, NYK Group president Yasumi Kudo speaks about the core philosophy of the new medium-term management plan, which was launched in April 2011 and will have NYK pursuing value-added strategies that exploit the group’s strengths in order to escape competitive conditions that are becoming commoditized. The report then focuses on the three key businesses of the group: global logistics, automobile transport, and the carriage of energy and natural resources. Moreover, in a section providing an overview of sales and marketing, each director gives additional details about the company’s business strategy.
An expanded sustainability section details the NYK Group’s activities in areas concerning the environment, safety, human resources, and social contributions. And the 2011 edition concludes with a report from management about internal controls over financial reporting and a report from an independent auditor.
