Use of LEDs Leads to 69% Energy Savings on NYK Hikawamaru

June 22, 2010

On June 14, NYK (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; president: Yasumi Kudo) switched the interior lights on NYK Hikawamaru from conventional light bulbs to LEDs, resulting in an energy savings of 69 percent.

A total of 156 lights and spotlights at NYK Hikawamaru’s entrance lobby and the ship’s NYK Lounge were switched to LEDs with the support of Energy-efficient Appliance Promotion Forum/Energy-efficient Lamp Promotion Forum’s member companies, the Mitsubishi Electric Corp., and Mitsubishi Electric Lighting Co. Ltd.

NYK continues to adopt energy-saving technology as an active environmental-conservation measure.
