On December 1, Wang Qing Hai, president of the Shougang Group, and four other delegates visited the NYK head office and met NYK president Yasumi Kudo and vice-president Hiromitsu Kuramoto.
At the meeting, President Wang expressed his gratitude for the stable transportation of raw materials used to make steel, especially during the troubling world financial crisis, and his hopes for strengthening relations between the two companies, President Kudo mentioned that the two companies operate in different industries, but share the policy of “providing stable, long-term services.” He continued by expressing his hope for the strengthening of relations between the two companies.
NYK inked a 16-year contract with the Shougang Group in January 2007 for the carriage of iron ore from Western Australia to China, and is currently engaged in two transportation projects for the Shougang Group.
NYK will continue to make every effort to remain at the forefront of transport services in response to increasing demand for the stable transport of natural resources.
