NYK Issues 2009 Edition of the Group's CSR Report
August 14, 2009
The NYK Group has issued the 2009 edition of its CSR report.
The 49-page, full-color report focuses on initiatives to address social and environmental issues of particular importance to the business of the NYK Group. NYK began issuing annual Social & Environmental reports in 2002, changing the name in 2005 to emphasize CSR, so this is the eighth such report to be published.
This year’s edition begins with NYK president Yasumi Kudo discussing safe operations and the environmental challenges we face. He emphasizes the role of the NYK Group Values of integrity, innovation, and intensity in the great efforts that NYK has made, its achievements, and its continuing commitment to the UN Global Compact. The report also contains two special features titled “Safe ship operation depends on people” and “Protecting the environment, bringing the future,” which highlight two very important tasks of the company.
The report continues with a stakeholder dialogue about technology development and methods to reduce CO2 emissions, and details the targets and initiatives of the NYK Cool Earth Project.
This report is one of the ways that the NYK Group proactively communicates information to the public at large, earning the trust of people throughout the world and becoming an indispensable member of society.
NYK will continue to make every effort to move forward on CSR, which is an integral part of the infrastructure through which the company conducts its business.
