NYK Recognized as an Excellent Supplier by Baoshan Iron and Steel

NYK was recently recognized as an “excellent supplier” for 2008–2009 by Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., the largest steelmaker in China.

This award is given annually to companies that make significant contributions to the success of Baoshan Iron and Steel. The recognized companies specialize in a variety of categories, such as raw materials, parts, plant equipment, and transportation. This year, 46 companies in 26 categories were recognized, with NYK and three others receiving awards in the international transportation category.

The awards ceremony took place in Shanghai on July 17. The president of Baoshan Iron and Steel, Ma Guoqiang, and the president of the Baosteel Group Corporation, He Wenbo, attended and expressed their gratitude and desire to strengthen their relationship with the recognized companies. NYK adviser Koichi Aoki attended the ceremony and received NYK’s award from the vice president of the Baosteel Group Corporation, Dai Zhihao.

NYK inked its first long-term 10-year contract with Baoshan Iron and Steel in November 2003 and started a new service from Western Australia to Chinese ports in January 2004. After that, NYK inked other long-term contracts for shipments from Brazil and Australia, and the company currently fulfills these responsibilities by providing stable transport.
