JP Caretta Embarks on Maiden Voyage

JP Caretta, a bulk carrier engaged in a long-term contract with Electric Power Development Co. Ltd. (J-POWER), the largest electric power wholesaler in Japan, has set off on its maiden voyage.

 
The ship will deliver about 800,000 tons of coal per year, mostly from Australia, to J-POWER thermal power stations in Tachibana-wan (Tokushima prefecture), Takehara?(Hiroshima prefecture), Matsushima (Nagasaki prefecture), Matsuura (Nagasaki prefecture), and Ishikawa-Coal(Okinawa prefecture).
 
The ship name is derived from the company’s communication name, J-POWER, and the scientific name for the loggerhead turtle, Caretta Caretta, which lays eggs in Tokushima prefecture, where the Tachibana-wan Thermal Power Station is located.
