NYK Achieves CO2 Reduction Goal for 2008 and Aims to Cut 5 % More in 2009

June 18, 2009

NYK is proud to announce that it has achieved a 10.8 %reduction in CO2 emitted at its offices in fiscal 2008, compared with the previous year. NYK’s goal for the fiscal year was a 10 percent reduction, and the company was able to achieve its target by introducing eco-friendly facilities at the head office, among other initiatives.

In fiscal 2009, NYK is aiming for a 5 %reduction over fiscal 2008 through more efficient operation of head office facilities, such as optimizing air conditioning and continual CO2 reduction campaigns.

The company established the Eco-Efficiency Office Committee in 2001 to introduce and address environmental issues such as global warming, and will continue to make every effort to preserve the environment.
