On May 22, Job Cohen, the mayor of Amsterdam, paid a visit to NYK and met with NYK president Yasumi Kudo and Yusen Air & Sea Services (YAS) president Shunichi Yano.

At the meeting, Mayor Cohen emphasized the exceptional relationship between Japan and the Netherlands during this 400th year of trade between the two countries. NYK president Kudo expressed his gratitude to the mayor for helping to create a healthy business environment, and his desire for NYK to continue to strengthen its ties with the city of Amsterdam.

NYK is an active member of the Grand Alliance, and as such, the company has containerships that make regular calls at the port of Amsterdam. NYK is also a shareholder in Amsterdam Port Holdings B.V., which operates container terminals in Amsterdam, and major NYK subsidiaries Nippon Cargo Airlines and YAS have their European branches headquartered in Amsterdam.

The NYK Group will continue to work to expand its business while strengthening its relationship with the city of Amsterdam.
