A November cruise on NYK’s luxury cruise ship Asuka II to support reconstruction of the area damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake and ensuing tsunami has been recognized with a special award at the 2012 Cruise of the Year Awards* sponsored by the Japan Oceangoing Passenger Ship Association (JOPA).

During the two-night, three-day cruise from November 7 to 9, guests were treated to a number of activities at Sendai and Ishinomaki to allow them to learn more about Tohoku, the northeast area of Japan mostly affected by the March 11, 2011 tragedy, and interact with the residents there. More details about this cruise can be found at the link below.

On December 25, 2012, an award ceremony was held on board Pacific Venus, which was moored at the port of Yokohama, and NYK was presented with a memorial plaque from Yasuo Iritani, the chairman of JOPA.

The NYK Group will continue its efforts to assist the reconstruction of areas in need.
