NYK Scholarships Offered for 11th Consecutive Year in China

On November 15, Keizo Nagai, NYK corporate officer and chief representative for China, attended the 2011 NYK scholarship awards ceremony at Shanghai Maritime University (SMU). Mr. Nagai delivered NYK scholarships to 36 selected excellent students, and encouraged them to continue to study hard and make efforts to develop into socially responsible young Chinese intellects havingan international vision. During the speech, Mr. Nagai expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chinese government and the Chinese people for their great support of the victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and he also spoke about NYK's CSR activities related to the environment and social contribution. Mr. Jin Yongxing, the vice president of SMU, expressed his appreciation and respect for NYK's 11 years of continuous support and his hope that SMU and NYK will continue to cooperate in the future.
On November 23, Mr. Nagai attended an NYK scholarship awards ceremony at Dalian Maritime University (DMU) and granted NYK scholarships to 40 excellent students there. Mr. Wang Zuwen, president of DMU, expressed his appreciation for NYK's long-term support, particularly during periods when the global shipping industry has faced downturns in the market.
Since the NYK Group initiated this CSR program at SMU and DMU in 2001, 585 students have received dedicated scholarships from NYK, The NYK Group will continue to support maritime education to contribute to global trade and society.
