June 17, 2017

On June 17, 2017, at 17:00 (Japan Standard Time), the containership ACX Crystal arrived at the No.6 berth of Oi Terminal in Tokyo Bay. In the early morning hours of the same day, the containership had collided with the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald off the coast of Shimoda in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan.

Our deep thoughts and concerns go out to all injured and missing on the USS Fitzgerald.

NYK and the shipowner are fully cooperating with an investigation being conducted by the Japan Coast Guard. More information will be provided when known.
