Announcement of the Appointment of New President

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has appointed as its new president current executive vice-president Yasumi Kudo who will assume the president on April, 2009

In conjunction with executive vice-president Kudo's promotion, incumbent president Koji Miyahara will become chairman, although he will retain his representative rights. Incumbent chairman Takao Kusakari will become director, board counselor.

The appointments were decided on December 25, when NYK convened a meeting of its board of directors.
