NYK to Aid Cyclone Victims in Myanmar

In response to the tragic loss experienced by so many in Myanmar, which was hit by a massive cyclone on May 2 and 3, the NYK Group has decided to make a donation of five million yen to aid the people of this area. Donations will be solicited from group members, and the company will then add to that amount the difference needed to total five million yen.

The donation will be made to the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (http://www.amda.or.jp/eng/), an NPO founded in 1984 in Okayama prefecture. This association has provided medical assistance to those in need throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The group also dispatched doctors to Bangladesh during a recent cyclone disaster.

Through an NPO/NGO, NYK is also examining various means to help through use of the company’s ocean, land and air transport network.
