Four senior officials of Maanshan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. (Masteel; head office: Maanshan City, Anhui province, China), founded in 1953, visited the offices of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK; head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) on January 15, 2008, for meetings with NYK president Koji Miyahara, as well as with NYK's Hiromitsu Kuramoto, representative director and senior managing corporate officer, and Hidenori Hono, managing corporate officer.
The visiting officials included Gu Jianguo, Chairman of Maanshan Iron & Steel Co.,Ltd. and Lu Kecong, General manager of Masteel International Trade and Economic Corporation (Masteel Trading). Masteel Trading is a trade and distribution affiliate of Masteel.
President Miyahara expressed his appreciation during the visit for the ongoing fulfillment of a December 2006 long-term charter contract with Masteel. He also conveyed his pleasure at the recent conclusion of a second charter agreement between Masteel and NYK and called for the development of even stronger ties.
Chairman Gu responded with words of gratitude for NYK's cooperation in the stable long-term transportation of raw materials. Mr. Gu further expressed his wish for growth for both companies.
The second charter contract was signed by Mr. Hono and Mr. Lu, and the meetings adjourned in an atmosphere of goodwill.
