NYK Issues CSR Report 2007 (English version)
August 29, 2007

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK; head office, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; president, Koji Miyahara) issued its CSR report for 2007 (A4 size, 50 pages, full color).
The report summarizes the activities that the NYK Group has undertaken to fulfill its corporate social responsibilities.
NYK's corporate social responsibilities consist of three pillars, which are outlined on the first page of the report in the president's message: The three pillars are a sound and highly transparent management; safe, environment-friendly operations; and workplaces that instill pride. The report also introduces the NYK Group Values that were formalized in January of this year so that NYK employees could focus on the frame of mind needed to implement the principles expressed in the NYK Group Mission Statement. Finally, the report details the NYK Group's 2006 activities in each of its business fields.
The content was edited so that readers can easily grasp relevant information. To that end, the report contains sections in which relevant parties, such as customers, academics, and advisory-board members, conversationally present and discuss their opinions on various topics relating to NYK business. These sections include "Our responsibility to society is to provide reliable monohakobi services," "Working with a maritime university to train professionals in marine monohakobi," and "The advisory board's perspectives on CSR."
Since April 1, 2005, the NYK Group's CSR activities have been overseen by the CSR Management Headquarters, whose chief executive is the president. With this CSR report, the NYK Group intends to introduce its activities to a wide audience, respond to any opinions offered in return, and then improve NYK's future CSR activities.
Beginning in September, updated versions of the CSR report will be available on NYK's official website (http://www.nyk.com/english/csr/report/).
