Coffee-Table Book Showcases NYK Logistics

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK; Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Miyahara) has published an illustrated book titled "Around the World in 40 Feet." The coffee-table hardback documents and depicts with photography the 125,000 kilometer journey of a 40-foot blue container.

The new book aims to communicate NYK Group's efforts to expand and intensify its global presence as a full-service logistics integrator. Specifically, it supports the company's goal to "become a logistics integrator that meets complex and diverse customer needs with an integrated array of ocean, land, and air transport functions and infrastructure," as described in the NYK Group Medium-Term Management Plan for the New Horizon 2007.

Consisting of 216 pages of photographs and documentary narrative, "Around the World in 40 Feet" details the 200 day journey of an NYK Logistics blue container as it transports goods from Hong Kong to Japan via ports in six continents. The narrative embraces the diverse people, lifestyles, cultures, and technologies of the various ports, terminals, and warehouse. Written in a style that combines boldness with sensitivity, it is certain to appeal to the general reader.

NYK will continue various initiatives to widen public awareness of its comprehensive logistics business by relating its activities to the lives of people around the world. At the same time, the company remains committed to ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of its services.
