LNG Carrier Broog Receives Qatargas' Best Ship Award

Broog, an LNG carrier operated by NYK LNG Shipmanagement Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), has been presented with Qatargas'* Best Ship Award for 2006.

The Best Ship Award is given to only one of the 10 LNG vessels among Qatargas' long-term chartered fleet. Each ship is rated in all areas of ship management, including safety equipment, condition of the engine room and deck, and management of documents required for port calls. Broog rated well in all areas, and such excellent generally translates into a stable schedule.

This year's award ceremony was held on 25 May on the vessel while it was berthed at Ras Laffan in Qatar. Captain Shigeru Hamada accepted the recognition on behalf of the entire crew.

Of the 10 vessels rated by Qatargas, four of the top five are operated by NYK LNG Shipmanagement, which manages all of NYK's LNG vessels from its offices in Tokyo.

NYK will continue to provide specialized ship-management services in order to ensure safe and quality operations for the expanding NYK LNG fleet.
