On June 7, Gu Zhang Gen, secretary of the party committee for Magang (Group) Holding Co. Ltd. and Maanshan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. (Head office: Shanghai, China) and president of Maanshan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., led a four-member delegation that paid a courtesy call to the head office of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) in Tokyo and met with NYK managing corporate officer Hidenori Hono.
At the June meeting, Mr. Hono expressed his gratitude to Maanshan for the ten-year contract, signed last November, for the transport of iron ore from Brazil and Western Australia to China, and for the attendance of the delegation at the delivery and naming ceremony for MG Courage, a newly built bulk carrier that will be used for these shipments.
Mr. Gu voiced his gratitude to NYK for its promise of stable transport of iron ore and offered his hope for the continuing growth of NYK and Maanshan.
