Baosteel Group Representatives Visit NYK

On April 13, Xu Lejiang, chairman of Baosteel Group Corporation (Head office: Shanghai, China), led a four-member delegation that paid a courtesy call to the head office of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) in Tokyo and met with NYK president Koji Miyahara, senior managing corporate officer Hiromitsu Kuramoto, and managing corporate officer Hidenori Hono.

Earlier this year, NYK and Baosteel agreed to their fourth long-term contract of more than ten years for the transport of iron ore to China.

At the April meeting, Mr. Miyahara expressed gratitude to Baosteel for the four contracts and his happiness that Mr. Xu's visit could coincide with the official state visit by Chinese premier Wen Jiabao. Mr. Miyahara also expressed his desire for NYK to remain active in its role of assisting with continuing growth in China. Mr. Xu voiced his gratitude to NYK for its stable transport of iron ore and his hope for steadfast relations between China and Japan.

Baosteel is currently constructing a new steel mill in Guandon providence (capacity 10 million tons), NYK will continue to provide stable transport services that meet the needs of Bao Steel.
