Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK; Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Miyahara) has acquired ISO9001:2000 certification for all safety and environmental activities of the company, including vessels in operation (including chartered ships), business organizations on land, and the company's crisis management system. The accreditation was provided by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai.
NYK had previously obtained ISO certification for vessel operations involving ships directly managed by the company. The additional accreditation expands the number of company activities that meet the international standard for quality management.
New Horizon 2007, NYK's medium-term management plan published in March 2005, established "enhancement of corporate fundamentals" as a principal management strategy of the company. The expansion of ISO9001:2000 certification should certainly help the company remain fundamentally sound.
NYK will further strive to ensure safe operations and promote environmental activities.
*ISO9001:2000
