NYK recently donated a large terrestrial globe to Vietnam Maritime University, located in Hai Phong in northern Vietnam, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the university's founding.

Vietnam Maritime University has graduated a large number of maritime specialists and maintains a central role in the education of seafarers in Vietnam. On April 1 this year, a grand ceremony was held to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the university's founding. Approximately 5,000 persons attended the event, including guests from abroad as well as Vietnamese government officials and individuals involved in the education of seafarers and students.

At the ceremony, NYK was represented by Capt.Takao Manji, senior managing corporate officer, and Capt.Takamaru Ishida, corporate officer. They both met with rector of University Dr. Dang Van Uy and other persons overseeing the education of seafarers in Vietnam and confirmed NYK's intention of offering further assistance with the training of Vietnamese seafarers.

The terrestrial globe symbolizes the cooperative relationship between NYK and the university.

NYK currently employs about 180 Vietnamese seamen and plans to substantially increase the number of Vietnamese seafarers in its ranks. Therefore, NYK intends to further step up its cooperation with the education of Vietnamese seafarers by offering opportunities such as onboard training for the university's students, thus helping to provide an even broader educational experience for these valued young individuals.
