NYK Establishes Liner Company in Italy

On 1st January 2006, NYK will take charge of its own agency operations in Italy.

NYK Line (Italy) S.p.A will take over from AMC and Caragency who have been NYK's liner agents in Italy for many years.

Mr Mario Orecchia, who has much experience in both the container and RORO businesses, will manage NYK Line (Italy). Mario, commenting on this development, said "I am looking forward to serving our customers as part of NYK and am honoured to be leading the day-to-day management of the new company".

NYK Line (Italy) will occupy the same offices in Milan and Genoa as, respectively, AMC and Caragency occupy at present. The same sub agency network will be retained for other Italian ports at which NYK's ships presently call.

Since the vast majority of AMC and Caragency staff will be transferring to the new company, NYK will ensure continuity of the excellent service given by the former agents. This expansion of its own network of liner agents to Italy underlines NYK's commitment to Italy. As a globally dedicated carrier NYK is keen to remain locally focused in the Italian market and seeks to continually improve service levels and enhance its market standing.

Ships calling at Italian ports on or prior to 31st December 2005 will be handled by AMC and Caragency and thereafter NYK Line (Italy) will be responsible for all agency matters.
