Grand Alliance's New Service Goes into Full Operation by Starting to Call at Ceres Paragon Terminal
August 8, 2005

On August 6, the 63,179-gross-ton NYK Procyon, assigned by NYK to the Grand Alliance's newly inaugurated Loop F service to Europe, paid her first visit to a terminal of the Ceres Paragon Terminals B.V., an affiliate of NYK, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This marked the first regular call by a large-sized containership not only for the Ceres Paragon Terminal, but also for Amsterdam Port.
To celebrate NYK Procyon's visit, a welcome ceremony was held by the quarters concerned of Amsterdam City. At the ceremony, Mr. Marin Marohnic, captain of the vessel, was presented with a plaque commemorating her first call at the port by Director Hans Gerson of the city's Port and Harbor Bureau.
The Grand Alliance plans to have its Loop A service to Europe also pay a regular visit to the Ceres Paragon Terminal from September in addition to Loop F. This terminal is counted upon to contribute to making up for a shortage of terminal capacity due to fast-increasing European cargoes and alleviating the resulting port congestion and ship delays in the European region.
