NYK Opens Representative Office in Russia

August 1, 2005

NYK today announces the establishment of a company representative office in Moscow, Russia.

This representative office is expected to open in late September or early October and will initially employ two to three staff members.

NYK's Moscow office will strive to develop new business in the following transportation sectors: bulk and energy resources (gas, crude oil, etc., in Russia and Ukraine), containers, finished vehicles, and logistics. In addition, the office will seek to strengthen NYK's relationship with the Russian government, shipping agencies, shippers, shipping companies, and ancillary companies.

NYK has been actively developing its business activities in Russia. OOO NYK Logistics (CIS), a subsidiary of NYK Logistics, opened in Moscow in August 2004 and in St. Petersburg last month. Further, NYK has established joint ventures with Russian company JSC Sovcomflot for participation in the Sakhalin II Project and the Tangguh LNG Project for the shipment of LNG.

In March 2005, NYK announced its plan to expand business in Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRIC), as part of "New Horizon 2007," the company's medium-term group management plan" that went into effect from April 2005. The opening of this new representative office in Moscow marks the next step for NYK in bulk/energy-resources transport and integrated logistics in Russia.
