NYK Line (China) to Open Liaison Office at Chengdu in Sichuan (China)

NYK Line (China) Co., Ltd., an affiliate of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), will open a liaison office at Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in China, as a result of an earlier study that analyzed making inroads into the inland Sichuan (China) market.
Sichuan, with a population of approximately 87 million people (according to a 2002 statistical survey), is the largest market in China's Midwest and was responsible for 6,872 million Yuan of the export-import market in 2004 (ranked 13th among 26 Provinces and 4-Zizhiqu in China). Since Sichuan is home to production bases of a number of major consumer electronics makers, automobile manufacturers, etc., NYK Line (China) Co., Ltd. decided to open its liaison office in the region after calculating that substantial growth in logistic demand - including marine transport - could be expected in future.
The Company acquired authorization to establish the liaison office in early February 2005 from the Commerce and Industry Administration Bureau of Shanghai, and has already completed registering for office establishment at the Commerce and Industry Administration Office of Chengdu City. Now at its address of 18F/M of The City Tower,No.86,Section One,People's Road (South),Chengdu,Sichuan final preparations are under way to open the business within the month of March.
By establishing the above liaison office, NYK Line China Co., Ltd. will manage 19 business points in China together with head, branch and liaison offices.
