Joint Venture for Transport of Finished Cars, "NYKANJI Car Transportation Co., Ltd.," Established in Shanghai, China

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has established "NYKANJI Car Transportation Co., Ltd." (NYKANJI) (Head Office: Shanghai, China), a joint venture which specializes in the transport of finished cars, with The ANJI Automotive Logistics Co., Ltd. (ANJI) and concluded an agreement for the establishment of this joint venture on December 29, 2004.
NYKANJI has been established for the purpose of providing transport services by trailer to accommodate domestic demand in land transport of cars finished by Japanese automobile manufacturers in China, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group), to which ANJI belongs, and many other local automobile manufacturers.
ANJI, an affiliate of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group), with two major car manufacturers, Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motors Co., Ltd., under its umbrella, is an automotive logistics company which engages in land transport by trailer and domestic car transport by vessels in China. Accumulating diverse expertise in the field of car transport, NYK aims to respond to its customers' needs and provide safe and efficient services through the alliance with ANJI, which has the largest logistics network in China.
NYK positions this joint business as its fourth core business in the field of automobile transport in China, following domestic car transport by vessels nationwide in China (NYKCOS*), the RORO terminal business in Shanghai, Dalian and Tianjin and the finished car logistics business in Shenyang (NYKULS**). NYK is confident that the establishment of NYKANJI will further strengthen the NYK Group's finished car transport service network in China.

**NYKULS (NYKULS Vehicle Distribution Co., Ltd.) was established in October 2003 for the purpose of car transport centered on north and northeast regions in China. NYKUSL stores and transports finished cars.
