Grand Alliance : Winter Withdrawal of Pacific SW Service

December 22, 2003

On December 12, 2003, NYK's ship security officer (SSO) training course obtained certification from the Panamanian Government.

Grand Alliance members in the Transpacific Trade - Hapag Lloyd, NYK, OOCL and P&O Nedlloyd - are announcing today temporary suspension of their FEX Transpacific service, with effect from the last week in January 2004.

This suspension is currently slated for a period of approximately six weeks and enables the GA to perform regular vessel maintenance and scheduled fleet reassignments. The Grand Alliance will continue service coverage for ports called by the FEX, primarily utilising its SCX loop.

As with all its services, the GA will keep market conditions under review and, if there is sufficient demand, will reinstate the FEX service with its current rotation.
