Bulk Energy Atlantic Group To Be Established in London

September 1, 2003

NYK Line will establish Bulk/Energy Atlantic Group, NYK Line in London on September 1 under the wing of the Bulk/Energy Transport Headquarters.

The aim in doing so is to better implement one of the three key strategies of NYK's medium- and long-term management vision "Forward 120": the globalization of bulk and energy transport services, in particular the reinforcement of business in the Atlantic region. The new group, even though located in London, will be vested with the same authority and power as divisions in the head office in Tokyo, and therefore can take full advantage of NYK's management resources when coping with challenges in new spheres of business.

Under its control, the group has subsidiaries and affiliates under the wing of the Bulk/Energy Transport Headquarters, which have footholds in Europe and the Americas. The group will undertake the reorganization of these business units in order to streamline NYK's overall activities as a whole.

The outline of the new group is as follows:
Name:Bulk/Energy Atlantic Group, NYK Line
Director in charge:Michio Tamiya, Managing Director, NYK Line
General Manager:Masahiro Samitsu
Location:London

NYK will set up a holding company in the Netherlands before October 1 to supervise and finance the business in the Atlantic region. Tamiya will assume its presidency.
