NYK Incorporated into FTSE4Good Global Index

April 28, 2003

NYK Line has received word that it has been listed in the FTSE4Good Global Index, which covers corporations around the globe, from March 21 this year in recognition of its efforts to help solve the problems of environmental protection, employment and labor practices and human rights.

The FTSE4Good Global Index is one of a series of FTSE4Good Indexes, instituted by FTSE, the British stock index company formed by the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange in 2001.

The index serves as a principal yardstick for investors who want to plan investment taking into account corporate responsibility toward society.

Shares in companies covered by the index have been incorporated into various SRI (socially responsible investment) funds and eco funds (environmental investment funds) throughout the world. Consequently, this index is closely watched by investors.

On the occasion of its inclusion in the FTSE4Good Global Index, NYK Line said it is determined to work afresh to improve its profitability while fulfilling its social responsibility in such aspects as compliance with the law, environmental protection and employment practices.
