VLCC Newbuilding Orders

NYK Line has decided to place orders with the following three shipbuilding companies for three double-hull VLCCs (300,000 DWT-type), which will be deployed to replace our single-hull vessels.
(scheduled dates of completion in parentheses):
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (2nd quarter of 2004)
Universal Shipbuilding Corporation (3rd quarter of 2004)
Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (4th quarter of 2004)
Universal Shipbuilding Corporation (3rd quarter of 2004)
Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (4th quarter of 2004)
The completion of the newbuildings will increase to 21 the number of double-hull VLCCs in our fleet, accounting for some 70 percent.
Working sincerely on social needs for the conservation of the natural environment, we will continue to replace our tankers with double-hull vessels.
