Newbuilding Orders to Be Placed for 2 Ships for Long-Term Contracts with JFE Group

NYK Line has decided to place two newbuilding orders - one for a 229,000-ton ore carrier and the other for a 200,000-ton bulk carrier (Setouchi-max type) - with Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and NKK Corporation, respectively. The ore carrier is slated to be completed in the second quarter of 2004 for assignment under our long-term ore transport contract with Kawasaki Steel Corporation. The bulk carrier is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2005 for assignment under our long-term shipping contract with NKK Corporation. Principal particulars of the above-mentioned two vessels are as follows:

Deadweight Tonnage (DWT): 200,000 mt
